A comparison of three in vivo assays for cell tumorigenicity.

چکیده
The cortisonized adult hamster, the antithymocyte-treated newborn hamster, and the antithymocyte globulin-treated monkey were compared as in vivo test systems for the tumorigenic potential of cells. The newborn hamster and monkey systems were more consistent in allowing the expression of tumors than was the cortisonized hamster when each of three human tumor cell lines was assayed. Cells derived from normal tissues failed to show evidence of tumorigenicity in any of the three animal systems.

Tumorigenicity of Esophageal Cancer Stem Cells (ECSCs) in nude mouse xenograft model
Background and objectives: Modeling cancer in vivo is a very important tool to investigate cancer pathogenesis and molecular mechanisms involved in cancer progression. Laboratory mice are the most common animal used for rebuilding human cancer in vivo. Cancer stem cells (CSCs) are the main reason of failure in cancer therapy because of tumor relapse and metastasis. Isolation of cancer stem cell...
متن کاملDevelopment and Cytogenetic Characterization of a Continuous Bovine Kidney Cell Line (IRKHBK) and Evaluation its Susceptibility to some Viruses
In this syudy a continuous bovine kidney cell line derived from a primary bovine kidney cells was established for the first time in Iran. The cells were originating from two-day-old normal male calf of Holstein breed. The cell cultures were continuously passaged following complete proliferation of primary cells. The specific properties or characteristics of the cell were defined using cytogenet...
متن کاملMitochondrial inclusions in selenium-treated mouse mammary epithelial cell lines.
The effects of selenium on three mammary epithelial cell lines (YN-4, WAZ-2t, and CL-S1) grown in vitro were examined by immunocytochemical and transmission electron microscopy technique. The primary effect of selenium at the ultrastructural level was the appearance of electron-dense inclusions within the mitochondrial matrix. The mitochondrial inclusions were seen in all three cell lines, alth...
متن کاملThe Effect of Wild Type P53 Gene Transfer on Growth Properties and Tumorigenicity of PANC-1 Tumor Cell Line
The p53 protein function is essential for the maintenance of the nontumorigenic cell phenotype. Pancreatic tumor cells show a very high frequency of p53 mutation. To determine if restoration of wild type p53 function can be used to eliminate the tumorigenic phenotype in these cells, pancreatic tumor cell lines, PANC-1 and HTB80, differing in p53 status were stably transfected with exogenous wil...
متن کاملStudy on effect of peptide-conjugated near-infrared fluorescent quantum dots on the clone formation, proliferation, apoptosis, and tumorigenicity ability of human buccal squamous cell carcinoma cell line BcaCD885
Quantum dots (QDs) have shown great development potential in noninvasive imaging and monitoring of cancer cells in vivo because of their unique optical properties. However, the key issue of whether or not QDs-labeled cancer cells affect the proliferation, apoptosis and in vivo tumorigenicity ability has not been reported. The primary issue is if the results obtained from the noninvasive visuali...
